Today, I want to dig a little deep into something that resonates with each one of us, whether we’re creative souls, visionary leaders, passionate entrepreneurs, gifted performers, or charismatic media personalities. It’s a way of looking at life that possesses the potential to unlock exciting opportunities and ignite the flame of endless possibilities in our lives.

Life is an ever-evolving masterpiece, composed of countless brushstrokes and melodies. We all experience moments when we just want a fresh canvas or a new stage to bring our masterpiece to life.

Today, I hope to inspire you with the profound idea that starting again holds an incredible power—a power that can revitalize your spirit, re-ignite your passion, and keep you on the path to fully expressing your unique gifts and talents.

In our current society, we often perceive starting again as a setback or a sign of failure. We cling to the belief that success should follow a linear path, with a clear beginning and a triumphant end. Well, it just isn’t so. That may be the Hollywood movie ending, but life takes us on a real journey. And the reality is far more intricate and beautiful than that Hollywood movie. Every remarkable life journey is marked by twists, turns, and unexpected detours.

So let’s just take a moment to reflect on the countless creative careers that have taken unexpected detours. If you’re unfamiliar with Oprah’s story, you would be amazed at the many different turns her career took. Consider how many stand-up comedians eventually became successful actors, or actors who ventured into the realm of entrepreneurship. Even some of history’s greatest innovators, like Steve Jobs and Walt Disney, faced multiple setbacks before achieving their remarkable success.

Let me share a glimpse of my own winding path. When I first arrived in Los Angeles at the age of 25, I had a deal with a Grammy-Winning record producer to produce my first record. Unfortunately, the funding fell through—argh! Frustrated and disheartened, I found myself exploring new territories. I stumbled upon coaching, something I never thought I would do. And here I stand today, cherishing my coaching business while still breathing life into my music and acting. My life has become an intriguing, fulfilling, and challenging tapestry, as I remain open to the diverse facets of my creativity and life expression.

I understand how overwhelming and fear-inducing it can be when we embark on something anew. It might involve chasing after your dreams once more, rewriting a song or a book, or relaunching a course or business idea. But trust me when I say there is power and freedom in starting again.

So, let’s delve into why embracing the power of starting again can lead us to incredible opportunities for personal and professional growth.

Unleashing the Creative Spirit:

It is in these moments of reinvention that our creative spirit truly flourishes. By embracing change, we invite fresh perspectives, new ideas, and a renewed sense of passion into our lives.

  • Embracing change is something that I’m learning over and over, and each time something new is revealed to me. It can be challenging but new ideas are coming every day.

Building Resilience:

When we face setbacks head-on, we develop an inner strength that propels us forward. It is through these experiences that we learn to view failure not as a defeat, but as a stepping stone on the path to success.

  • For me, it’s important to remember this – starting over is not failing.

Embracing Lifelong Learning:

As we start on new learning journeys, we acquire new skills, knowledge, and insights. Each fresh start presents us with an opportunity to refine our crafts and deepen our understanding of ourselves and the world around us. We can become willing to approach each new beginning with curiosity and a thirst for knowledge, ready to embrace the transformative power of expanding.

  • Embracing learning led me to get my Master’s Degree in Speech Pathology and complete my internship at USC Medical Center, where I  helped brain-injured patients rehabilitate. What an incredible experience that was!

Reinventing Your Identity:

As actors, singers, and entrepreneurs, we are constantly evolving, and our personal growth often is connected with our creative pursuits. How cool it is to have the chance to embrace the freedom to explore new artistic styles, experiment with different roles, and reinvent yourself.

  • I think why not! Why not do something different? Become bold, even audacious in trying new things.

Building a Strong Support Network:

Starting over can be a challenging idea, but it also opens doors to connect with communities of creatives, visionaries, and entrepreneurs who can provide encouragement, guidance, and inspiration along your journey. Together, we can foster a community of support where we celebrate each other’s successes and lift each other up during times of uncertainty.

  • Over the pandemic, we all had to reinvent ourselves a little and I now have so many new friends and business partnerships. So Blessed!

So let us release the fear of starting again and embrace it as an incredible opportunity for growth. Through these courageous leaps of faith, we discover our true potential and pave the way for an extraordinary life.

Remember, failure is not the end — it is merely a chapter in our personal unfoldment, leading us toward even greater success. Now is the time to dust off the dreams we’ve shelved, let go of the past that no longer serves us, and step into the realm of infinite possibilities.
